On March 1, 2014, my wife and I took a tour

from Hanoi to the famous

Perfume Pagoda,

a huge temple complex about 60 miles

south of Hanoi, Vietnam.

As usual, I was looking for unusual

and interesting shots.

I came upon this charming lady

doing her daily homage to the gods.

She noticed me and smiled and kind of played

"Hide and Seek".

I found her whole character fascinating.

In early February 2021 I asked a tour guide friend

from Hanoi to try to track her down

as I figured she was a local.

She was located and shown the photos

I had sent to my friend on a mobile phone.  

Her name was Miss Hinh.

I have been preparing the photos for printing

and also composing a letter to her telling her how much people

have loved this photo and some of the history of it

and a little about myself.

Due to the Lunar New Year when everything in Vietnam shuts down, we decided to wait until after the holiday to send them.

It was with great sadness that I learned of her passing

shortly after The New Year began.

Her son and family will now get the photos and letter.
